2025 NFL Strength of Schedule: Giants have the most difficult, 49ers the easiest
Updated: May 14, 2025
While we have known since January all of the opponents each NFL team will face, we now know which weeks each team will play of all their games now that the 2025 NFL schedule is out. (The exact date and times for some games in Weeks 17 and 18 are still to be determined.)
Which team has the most difficult 2025 NFL schedule? Or the easiest NFL schedule?
Using each NFL team's 2025 opponents, our NFL strength of schedule (SOS) tallies the win-loss records of each team's opponents and then uses that cumulative win-loss record to rank the difficulty or ease of each team's schedule.
Based on 2024 records, no team has a more challenging schedule than the Giants. Their opponents have collectively won 57.4% of their games in 2024. Meanwhile, San Francisco's opponents have won a combined 41.5% of their 2024 games, which gives them the easiest schedule on paper.
First 4 Games: Who has the easiest and most difficult start to the season?
It's unclear who will be under center for the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, but no team has a more challenging first four games based on last year's records of their opponents.
Cleveland will open the season against the Bengals, Ravens, Packers and Lions, who have combined for a 47-21 record in 2024.
The teams with next most difficult schedules before the bye weeks begin in Week 5 are the Ravens (46-22), Giants (45-23), Eagles (42-26), Falcons (41-27) and Jets (41-27), respectively.
Meanwhile, Carolina faces opponents with a combined 24-44 record to open the season with matchups against the Jaguars, Cardinals, Falcons, and Patriots.
The teams with the next easiest schedules include the Cardinals (26-42), Commanders (26-42), Texans (27-41), Patriots (27-41), and 49ers (27-41).
