2013 Fantasy Football Mock Draft (Standard Scoring)

Scoring: This mock draft is based on leagues that use standard scoring (i.e., not point-per-reception (PPR)
scoring).  Passing touchdowns are worth four points while rushing and receiving touchdowns are worth six
points.  In addition, one point is earned per 25 passing yards, 10 rushing yards and 10 receiving yards.

For this mock draft, four EDSFootball.com contributors will draft for three teams per round and we will exclude kickers and team defenses from this mock.

We will draft eight rounds and I will include commentary for each of the 96 picks.

This is a slow draft that is conducted offline, but picks/rounds of the draft will be posted as they are completed.

NEW: We have started a new standard-scoring mock on June 30th.

Pick (Overall)
Contributor (Team)
Player, Position, Team
1 (85).
Kevin Hanson (Team 3)
Russell Wilson, QB, Seahawks
Excluding the postseason, Wilson has never thrown for 300 yards and has only two games with more than
250 passing yards.  From Week 9 to 17, however, he was about as good as anyone.  During that stretch,
Wilson had a league-high passer rating of 120.3, a 16:2 touchdown-to-interception ratio and he rushed for
361 yards and four more scores.

2 (86).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 3)
Bernard Pierce, RB, Ravens
Not only do I like Pierce a lot, he is the main reason why I have Rice ranked sixth among all running backs as
I can see him stealing touches that would have otherwise gone to Rice.  With a lesser-talented backup, I'd
rank Rice third.  That said, there are still a few backs on the board that I believe would have a greater
opportunity (i.e., more touches) to help fantasy owners at this point.  Although I like the player, I would wait a
little longer to pick him.

3 (87).
Brendan Donahue (Team 3)
Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Falcons
It's certainly possible that the Falcons will part ways with The Burner from a salary-cap standpoint.  Turner
slowed down considerably except for scoring double-digit touchdowns for a fifth consecutive season.
Unfortunately for Rodgers, the Falcons would likely add another feature-type back if they part with Turner.  (In
my latest 2013 NFL mock draft, I have the Falcons drafting Wisconsin RB Montee Ball in Round 2.)

4 (88).
Sean Beazley (Team 3)
Mark Ingram, RB, Saints
With the presence of the team's other backs (Sproles, Thomas and Ivory), Ingram's greatest strength is the
possibility of him scoring you six fantasy points at a time.  From Week 11 to 16, Ingram scored four
touchdowns in that six-game stretch.  If all went as well as possible, he's a guy that could rack up double-digit
touchdowns in a season for fantasy owners.

5 (89).
Sean Beazley (Team 2)
Mike Williams, WR, Buccaneers
Williams had a nice bounce-back season after a somewhat disappointing sophomore campaign.  His
receptions totals have been remarkably consistent in his three seasons: 65, 65 and 63.  His yardage and
touchdown numbers varied more, however.  Williams set a career high with 996 yards and missed his
second season with double-digit touchdowns by one.  With the presence of Vincent Jackson on the other
side, Williams should have the opportunity to continue to put up similar numbers as VJax draws the double
teams.

6 (90).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 2)
T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts
With the exception of Justin Blackmon, who had only four more yards, Hilton had the second-most receiving
yards (861) among rookie wide receivers.  In addition to finishing second on the team behind Reggie Wayne
in yards, the small but speedy receiver led the team in touchdown receptions.  Beginning with Week 9, Hilton
had four of his five 100-yard games and scored six of his seven touchdowns.

7 (91).
Kevin Hanson (Team 2)
Lamar Miller, RB, Dolphins
With Reggie Bush about to become a free agent, Miller appears to have the inside track to be the team's
featured rusher.  GM Jeff Ireland has talked up Miller this offseason (
via Palm Beach Post): “Lamar really
showed some great signs of really some explosive play opportunity.  He kind of shoots out of the cannon
when he hits the hole. He’s got very good hands. I thought he did a very good job in his pass protection,
which keeps him on the field all three downs.”

8 (92).
Brendan Donahue (Team 2)
Ryan Williams, RB, Cardinals
Despite his promise, it's been an injury-plagued two seasons for Williams.  In two seasons, he has played a
total of five games and has averaged only 2.8 yards per carry in those games.  The Cardinals offensive line
leaves a lot to be desired, as does Williams' durability.

9 (93).
Brendan Donahue (Team 1)
Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Steelers
Both Dwyer and Isaac Redman are restricted free agents and Rashard Mendenhall is going to be an
unrestricted free agent.  With the transition to a zone-blocking scheme, it's possible that the team's featured
runner is not yet on the roster.  I have the Steelers drafting a running back early in
my mock draft.

10 (94).
Sean Beazley (Team 1)
Sidney Rice, WR, Seahawks
Rice finished with 50 receptions on 80 targets for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.  I expect a little more
production in 2013, but not much more than a line of 50-748-7.

11 (95).
Kevin Hanson (Team 1)
Tony Gonzalez, TE, Falcons
With a 95-percent chance that he'd retire, Gonzalez would be a wasted pick if I thought he would not play in
2013.  The team's GM, Thomas Dimitroff, believes the odds that he'll be back is closer to 50/50 and Gonzalez
was playing as well this year as he has in a long time.  Therefore, I believe it's closer to 95 percent that he will
return.  Gonzalez finished the season with 93 receptions for 930 yards and eight touchdowns, all of which
were his highs as a Falcon.

12 (96).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 1)
Antonio Gates, TE, Chargers
If I went by the old rule (if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all), I would say that Gates
has scored a touchdown in each of his last three games played.  Then I'd stop talking.  (Or writing ... but you
get the point.)  Once the game's most dominant (and biggest mismatch at) tight end, Gates is 32 years old
going on 42.  Despite missing only one game, Gates had his lowest production since his rookie season with
only 49 catches for 538 yards and seven touchdowns.
