2013 Fantasy Football Mock Draft (PPR Scoring)

Scoring: This mock draft is based on leagues that use point-per-reception (PPR) scoring.  Passing
touchdowns are worth four points while rushing and receiving touchdowns are worth six points.  In addition,
one point is earned per 25 passing yards, 10 rushing yards and 10 receiving yards and one point per
reception.

Pick (Overall)
Contributor (Team)
Player, Position, Team
1 (61).
Brendan Donahue (Team 3)
Danny Amendola, WR, New England Patriots
In his six seasons in New England, Welker had 110 receptions or more five times.  Provided he stays healthy
for a full season, Amendola should come close to that total.  That said, Amendola has struggled with
durability over the past couple of seasons.

2 (62).
Kevin Hanson (Team 3)
Tony Gonzalez, TE, Atlanta Falcons
With Julio Jones and Roddy White on the outside, Gonzalez did plenty of damage over the middle of the field
for the Falcons last season.  In fact, he led the team in receptions (93) and finished with 930 yards and eight
touchdowns.  Those were all highs during his four-year Falcons tenure.

3 (63).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 3)
Cecil Shorts, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
If it weren't for missing two games last season, Shorts, who had a team-high 979 yards, would have had the
first 1,000-yard season of his career.  Before the bye, Shorts had some productive games due to big plays but
he tallied only eight receptions in his first five games.

After the bye, Shorts had 47 receptions for 774 yards and five touchdowns in nine games.  In those nine
games, Shorts had at least 51 yards in all of them, 100-plus yards in four of them and scored in five games.
He had double-digit fantasy points (in standard-scoring leagues) in seven of them.

The quarterback situation is the biggest concern for Shorts and Justin Blackmon, but the Jags have a
talented pair of young wideouts.

4 (64).
Sean Beazley (Team 3)
Greg Jennings, WR, Minnesota Vikings
After losing/trading Percy Harvin to the Seahawks, the Vikings signed Jennings to a five-year contract.  Last
year, Jennings struggled with injuries and had one of his worst seasons as a pro.  While the good news for
Jennings and his fantasy owners is that he will be the primary target and the team has a great running game,
the bad news is Christian Ponder is an enormous downgrade from Aaron Rodgers.

5 (65).
Sean Beazley (Team 2)
Miles Austin, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Austin played a full 16-game season after his injury-plagued 2011 campaign, but he failed to reach 1,000
yards again.  With Dez Bryant breaking out in a big way, there is a clear pecking order among the Cowboys
wideouts at the top.  There was speculation that he could have been released due to his contract -- and, as a
Cowboys fan, I was hoping for that or at least for the deal to be restructured.

6 (66).
Kevin Hanson (Team 2)
Steve Smith, WR, Carolina Panthers
Although he will turn 34 years old this year, Smith is coming off back-to-back 1,100-yard seasons in Carolina.
He ranked 12th in the NFL with 1,174 yards.  While he won't score a ton of touchdowns, I wouldn't be
surprised if he finishes with at least 1,000 yards for the third consecutive season.

7 (67).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 2)
T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Hilton had a nice rookie season, but there are several receivers that I would prefer to take over Hilton,
especially in a PPR format.  Hilton has the potential (and ability) to make big plays (he ranked fifth in the
league with 17.2 yards per reception) and he had five 100-yard games last year.

8 (68).
Brendan Donahue (Team 2)
Justin Blackmon, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
After being drafted, things did not go so well for Blackmon as he was arrested for DUI, held out longer than
any other first-round pick and exceeded 50 receiving yards in only one of his first nine NFL games.  During
that nine-game stretch, Blackmon had a total of 250 yards.

Then things turned around for Blackmon, who had 38 receptions for 615 yards and four touchdowns in the
team's final seven games of the season.  Not only did he have a monster 236-yard game, but he had more
than 50 yards in six of those seven games.

It's always good to see a young and talented player close a season strong and carry lots of positive
momentum with him into the offseason / next season.

9 (69).
Brendan Donahue (Team 1)
Vick Ballard, RB, Indianapolis Colts
The oft-injured Donald Brown opened the door for Ballard to become the team's lead back as a rookie.  In the
team's first five games, Ballard had 29 carries for only 67 yards (2.31 YPC).  For the remainder of the season,
however, he had 182 carries for 747 yards (4.10 YPC).  With that yards-per-game average over a 16-game
season, he would have rushed for 1,087 yards.

10 (70).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 1)
Mikel Leshoure, RB, Detroit Lions
With the offseason addition of Reggie Bush, Leshoure could see a significant reduction in his workload after
leading the team in rushing last year (798 yards on 215 carries).  Leshoure averaged roughly 18 touches per
game last season and I can see that number dropping to around 12 touches per game in 2013.  That said,
he should continue to get the goal-line touches and Leshoure scored nine touchdowns in only 14 games last
season.

11 (71).
Sean Beazley (Team 1)
Jeremy Maclin, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
Through four NFL seasons, Maclin has yet to have a 1,000-yard season.  It's possible that he finally reaches
that milestone in his fifth season, but he often seems to be battling injuries or ailments even if he has
missed more than one game in only one season.

12 (72).
Kevin Hanson (Team 1)
Stevie Johnson, WR, Buffalo Bills
In my updated PPR wide receiver rankings, Johnson is my 25th-ranked receiver.  In this PPR mock, he is the
34th wide receiver off the board.  Johnson has back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and is a steady option as
my WR3.
