2012 Fantasy Football Mock Draft - Point-Per-Reception (PPR) Scoring

Scoring: This mock draft is based on leagues that use point-per-reception (PPR) scoring.  Passing
touchdowns are worth four points while rushing and receiving touchdowns are worth six points.  One point is
earned per 25 passing yards, 10 rushing yards and 10 receiving yards.  In addition, one point is earned per
reception.

Our 2012 Fantasy Football Mock Draft (Standard Scoring)

Pick (Overall)
Contributor (Team)
Player, Pos., Team
1 (37).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 3)
Jordy Nelson, WR, Packers
In his breakout season, Nelson led the Packers in receptions (68), yards (1,263) and touchdowns (15), all of
which were career highs.  How close can he come to duplicating that production in 2012?  It's possible that
his receptions increase and his yardage stays close to the same, but I would expect his TDs to dip (and
possibly by a lot).

2 (38).
Kevin Hanson (Team 3)
Reggie Bush, RB, Dolphins
No player rushed for more yards in the final four games that Bush played last year (he sat out the season
finale) and he has a lofty goal for 2012:
the rushing title.  There is virtually no chance of that happening this
year.  That said, Bush should have another solid season if he can stay healthy, which is always a concern
with Bush.  The Dolphins lack weapons on the perimeter of their offense and Bush should line up some at
receiver as well.

3 (39).
Brendan Donahue (Team 3)
Roy Helu, RB, Redskins
I want to like Helu this year.  And especially in PPR leagues.  After all, who's the guy that broke Art Monk's
franchise record for receptions in a game?  Of course, Helu (14) did since I asked the question under Helu.  (I
need to stop telegraphing these questions.)  But the biggest risk to Helu's fantasy production is Mike
Shanahan, who clearly hates us all.

4 (40).
Sean Beazley (Team 3)
Miles Austin, WR, Cowboys
Missing six games total in two different stints last year, Austin never got on track although he had 243 yards
and four touchdowns before missing Week 3 and 4.  Assuming he stays healthy and Dez Bryant stays on the
field (i.e., no suspensions or injuries), Austin has plenty of upside.  Most defenses will focus on stopping
Bryant over Austin, which could create some one-on-one opportunities for Austin.

5 (41).
Sean Beazley (Team 2)
Dwayne Bowe, WR, Chiefs
Especially with a healthy (healthier) Jamaal Charles and the addition of Peyton Hillis, the Chiefs are a
run-first team.  Although Matt Cassel will be healthy to start the season, I'm not sure that means too much.
There are several receivers on the board that I would prefer over Bowe at this spot including the next few guys
selected.

6 (42).
Kevin Hanson (Team 2)
Percy Harvin, WR, Vikings
Harvin is a bit of a head case and there is always the chance that Harvin misses a game unexpectedly due to
migraines.  That said, the Vikings should rely heavily on the Harvin this season, especially early, and only
Roddy White (57) had more receptions than Harvin (56) from Week 10 to 17.

7 (43).
Brendan Donahue (Team 2)
Marques Colston, WR, Saints
Back in New Orleans, Colston is in the best place possible for his fantasy value, especially considering that
the Saints and Drew Brees agreed to a five-year contract.  With the exception of his 11-game season, Colston
has finished with at least 70 receptions and 1,000 yards every year of his career.

8 (44).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 2)
Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, Giants
I don't dislike Bradshaw; in fact, I like the pick here.  I do, however, like David Wilson more when it comes to
relative value.  Wilson set the Virginia Tech school rushing record last year and should get a decent workload
if Bradshaw stays healthy for a full season.  If he can't, which is certainly possible, Wilson has a lots of upside
as a later-round pick.

9 (45).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 1)
Demaryius Thomas, WR, Broncos
Thomas had 75-plus yards (including a 200-yard performance in the playoffs) in six of his past seven games
with Tim Tebow throwing to him.  Can it get even better now that Peyton Manning is throwing to him?

10 (46).
Brendan Donahue (Team 1)
Doug Martin, RB, Buccaneers
The Bucs traded up (and back into the first round) to take Martin.  LeGarrette Blount rushed for more than
1,000 yards as an undrafted rookie two seasons ago.  But Blount has had some fumbling issues and is
much less versatile than Martin, who should get a larger workload.

11 (47).
Kevin Hanson (Team 1)
Frank Gore, RB, 49ers
With Gore racking up the career carries and the team loaded with running back depth, it's possible that Gore
sees a significant reduction in his workload to keep him healthy for a full season (and postseason).  At this
spot, however, he's a decent value.  I will look to add another running back as my flex with pick 50 on the way
back around.

12 (48).
Sean Beazley (Team 1)
Kenny Britt, WR, Titans
At this point, I would prefer not to draft a receiver coming off a torn ACL with some of the other receivers still on
the board, especially considering he's had three knee surgeries in less than a year: two on his right knee and
one on his left knee.  He will likely go too early in my drafts for my taste and not end up on any of my teams.  If
he can stay healthy for a full season, however, next year will be a different story.

[Update:
Britt was busted for DUI on Friday (July 20th), his eighth run-in with the law since entering the NFL.]
