2012 Fantasy Football Mock Draft (Standard Scoring)
| |
Scoring: This mock draft is based on leagues that use standard scoring (i.e., not point-per-reception (PPR) scoring). Passing touchdowns are worth four points while rushing and receiving touchdowns are worth six points. In addition, one point is earned per 25 passing yards, 10 rushing yards and 10 receiving yards.

Nate Washington, WR, Titans
It's not too often that a 1,000-yard receiver is available in Round 12. While I don't expect Washington to repeat his career season again, Britt is coming off of an ACL injury and Wright is a rookie. Washington is a solid value later in drafts.

Coby Fleener, TE, Colts
With Luck and Fleener having an established rapport from their Stanford days, Fleener immediately becomes Luck's security blanket.

Kevin Hanson (Team 3)
Rueben Randle, WR, Giants
The Giants often line up with three-receiver sets and Randle, the team's second-round pick, becomes the team's No. 3 receiver with the offseason departure of Mario Manningham. With Hakeem Nicks coming off of surgery for a broken foot suffered at OTAs, it's possible that Randle gets more snaps earlier on in the year even though Nicks expects to be ready for the start of training camp.

Sam Bradford, QB, Rams
A high-ankle sprain derailed Bradford's second season after the former No. 1 overall draft pick had a solid rookie season and won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Before taking Bradford though, I would have preferred some of the other QBs still on the board like Freeman, Flacco and Palmer, to name a few.

Dustin Keller, TE, Jets
The good news with Keller is he gets targeted a lot. Tied with Tony Gonzalez for sixth in targets (116) among tight ends, only Graham (149), Pettigrew (126), Gronkowski (124), Winslow (121) and Witten (117) had more last year. The bad news is he's inconsistent and has Mark Sanchez (or Tim Tebow) throwing to him.

Sean Beazley (Team 2)
Brian Quick, WR, Rams
A former basketball player with good size (6-4), Quick has a lot of upside, but he's a bit raw and making a big transition from Appalachian State to the NFL. I like Quick more from a longer-term standpoint than for the 2012 season, but the Rams will have to throw it to someone and their receiving corps outside Quick is one of the least talented in the league.

| |
7 (139).
Kevin Hanson (Team 2)
Josh Freeman, QB, Buccaneers
Like Bradford, Freeman's numbers regressed a lot. Although he set career highs in completions (346) and passing yards (3,592), he also set a career high in interceptions (22). He went from a 25:6 TD-to-INT ratio in 2010 to 16:22 last year. A change in coaching staff and the addition of Vincent Jackson should help Freeman bounce back a bit and he's one of the better rushing quarterbacks in the league (more than 600 rushing yards over the past two seasons combined).

Brendan Donahue (Team 2)
Shane Vereen, RB, Patriots
Ridley should get the majority of early-down work and Vereen the third-down work, but it's impossible to predict what Belichick will do on a weekly basis. My preference is to avoid all Belichick-coached running backs and let other fantasy owners deal with the frustration that comes along with them.

Brendan Donahue (Team 1)
Joe Flacco, QB, Ravens
You know what you're getting with Flacco. In his past three seasons, he's been remarkably consistent. In those three years, Flacco has 306-315 completions, thrown for 3,610-3,622 yards, 20-25 touchdowns and 10-12 interceptions each year.
| |
10 (142).
Sean Beazley (Team 1)
Rashad Jennings, RB, Jaguars
Two seasons ago, Jennings had a nice season as MJD's backup: 459 rushing yards and four TDs plus 26 receptions for 223 yards in 13 games. In his two seasons, Jennings has averaged more than five yards per carry and he's a must-own if you draft MJD.
| |
11 (143).
Kevin Hanson (Team 1)
Bernard Scott, RB, Bengals
If you're not sold on The Law Firm getting the majority of work, Scott is a great value at this spot. He's the 52nd running back off the board and has the potential to get 15 touches a game in the Bengals' offense.
| |
12 (144).
Dan Yanotchko (Team 1)
Tony Moeaki, TE, Chiefs
Tearing his ACL in the preseason last year, Moeaki had 47 receptions for 556 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie in 2010. I don't expect much more than what Moeaki did in 2010 and would have preferred taking one of the other tight ends still on the board: Martellus Bennett, Ed Dickson, Heath Miller, etc. over Moeaki.
