2013 NFL Power Rankings - Week 3
Week: Preseason | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Next update prior to Week 4.

The Jacksonville Jaguars do not have a franchise quarterback, but their opportunity to secure one in the 2014 NFL Draft has increased significantly after their dismal display in Oakland on Sunday.

It's not often that a TV station apologizes for what they air ahead of time, but that is what an Orlando TV statioin did. Instead of showing the Manning Bowl (Peyton Manning vs. Eli Manning), they showed the Baguars vs. Raiders.

With our power rankings each week, we answer a question in a roundtable fashion among our contributors.

Since the league expanded to a 16-game schedule, there has been only one winless regular-season team, but the Jaguars look as bad as that winless 2008 Detroit Lions team.

Currently the Jags average 5.5 points and 213.0 yards per game, both of which are league lows. This week, they face the Seahawks, who are allowing a league-low 5.0 points per game and are 20-point favorites over the Jags.

Considering they just held Colin Kaepernick, Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis to just three points last week, is it possible for the Jags to score negative points?

This week's question: How many games will the Jaguars win in 2013 (Over/Under: 0.5)?

Kevin Hanson (follow on Twitter):

With the second overall pick in last year's draft, the Jaguars opened the season against opponents that also had top-three draft picks. Granted, the Chiefs had more talent on their roster than a typical two-win team and the Raiders traded back from the No. 3 spot with the Dolphins.

But the point here is that the Jags may have had their best chance to get their first win of the season in one of these two games yet they managed to score a total of only 11 points in their two losses.

Not only are the first team in the league, but they are the worst team in their division by a wide margin as the Titans look improved from last year.

Considering it's as hard to go winless as it is to go unbeaten, a lucky break or two should get the Jags a W. But they will be underdogs in all of their remaining games and are -point 'dogs this week in Seattle.

John Trifone (follow on Twitter):

Jacksonville is a 20-point underdog against the Seahawks in Week 2. Not only are they going to cover, but I'm taking the Jags for the outright win ... just kidding, they're going to get slaughtered.

So the question is, will they win a game all year?

There is a lot of parity in the league these days, but the Jaguars just look like a college team out there. Oakland is not one of the better teams in the league, but they easily handled Jacksonville.

I can't say where the win will come, but with 14 more games, I'm going to take the over on 0.5 game. Maybe they can upset the Colts or Titans. I just find it hard to believe that they will look as bad as they have so far all year. They're far and away the worst team in the league, but I'll still say they end up with a win before the season's over.

Sean Beazley (follow on Twitter):

The Jags are in trouble this season. Blaine Gabbert was an absolute joke Week 1 vs. the Chiefs. MJD is having issues with an ankle again, and is set for a MRI. Their defense is one of the worst units in the league.

That being said, there is no way they go winless this year. Chad Henne is a very capable QB. He might not be a franchise QB, but he is good enough to get things done and win 2-3 games this season. The Jaguars also get their top WR Justin Blackmon back from suspension in Week 5.

I think a realistic prediction for the Jaguars is 3-13 at this point. I would be shocked to see them picking outside the top three in next year's NFL Draft.

Dan Yanotchko (follow on Twitter):

I am going over on the .5-win total for the Jaguars, but I really don't think they will get two wins total this year. The Jags have the last-place schedule and they will have games against Buffalo and Cleveland later in the year.

The Jags also typically play up to their competition, as they gave Green Bay and New England all they could handle last year.

Although the Jags are woeful, they will get an offensive boost when Justin Blackmon returns, and they can't really be as bad as the Lions...right?
