Nate Wiggins — NFL Mock Draft Roundup 2.0
Leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, we will track where Clemson Tigers cornerback Nate Wiggins appears in the latest NFL mock drafts.
Nate Wiggins NFL Mock Drafts
Here are some of the latest mock drafts in which Wiggins has appeared:
#17 overall, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars signed veteran Ronald Darby after releasing Darious Williams, but they need more firepower at the position. Nate Wiggins has the length, speed and press-coverage chops to give opposing WRs fits in the AFC South.
#22 overall, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia needs corners, and Wiggins checks off all the athletic numbers you'd want at the position, even if his lean frame (173 pounds) is a concern. Still, the Eagles have gambled on high-end talents in unusual frames before, with recent first-rounders DeVonta Smith and Jordan Davis on opposite ends of the spectrum.
#31 overall, San Francisco 49ers
After weighing in at 173 pounds at the combine, the super-svelte Wiggins bulked up a bit for his pro day, coming in at 182, per scouts. That was a big improvement for a guy whose main concerns center around his very thin frame; in any case, the former Clemson star is hyper-athletic and boasts excellent length, helping him make plays on the ball and dominate the sideline.
#25 overall, Green Bay Packers
The Packers give new DC Jeff Hafley another talented defender to play opposite Jaire Alexander in the secondary.
#24 overall, Dallas Cowboys
Corner help is needed with Stephon Gilmore gone. Nate Wiggins has outstanding cover skills, but some scouts have knocked him for his tackling. But he's not as bad on tape as that sounds.
#22 overall, Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles were middle-of-the-pack in most defensive passing stats after a rough finish to the 2023 season, and their nine interceptions tied for 25th. They signed veteran nickel C.J. Gardner-Johnson and should get Darius Slay and James Bradberry back healthy, but there's no doubt Philadelphia needs an infusion of top-end talent at cornerback. Wiggins has legendary speed (4.28-second time in the 40-yard dash) that shows up on tape in man coverage situations. He had two interceptions last season, and his combination of length, wheels and hustle would get him on the field early in Philly.
#22 overall, Philadelphia Eagles
General manager Howie Roseman is religious about drafting premium positions, and the Eagles' pass defense was messier last season than the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial. Brugler wrote on Wiggins: "With his athletic profile, Wiggins moves with quiet, controlled feet/hips to seamlessly transition out of breaks and accelerate to top gear (allowed only one catch of 20-plus yards last season, on 41 targets). His thin frame is a concern, and he needs to improve his consistency as a run defender, but he shows tremendous effort in pursuit."
