Awa Fam - WNBA Mock Draft Roundup 1.0
Leading up to the 2026 WNBA Draft, we will track where Spain's Awa Fam appears in the latest WNBA mock drafts.
Here are some of the latest mock drafts in which Awa Fam has appeared:
No. 2 overall — Minnesota Lynx
Assuming the Lynx attempt to keep most of their core during free agency, including superstar forward Napheesa Collier, it would help to add a mobile big like Fam to the roster. She's fluid in her movements and can score in several ways, including through a sneaky good face-up game. Fam also has impeccable footwork and patience to get out of any jam, along with underrated vision to find open teammates.
No. 1 overall — Dallas Wings
The 19-year-old Fam is the best prospect in this class, and the Wings should not overthink this pick. Bigs with her level of athleticism and versatility on both sides of the ball are rare, and she's shown in EuroLeague this season that she's already capable of holding her own against WNBA veterans. Fam would be an excellent frontcourt partner for Paige Bueckers and give the Wings a strong foundation for the future.
The Athletic — Sabreena Merchant
No. 1 overall — Dallas Wings
The foreign frontcourt revolution is upon us. After Dominique Malonga in 2025, here comes Fam, 19. The Spanish center is an excellent athlete and so smooth in the half court. She explodes on rolls to the basket and has a great feel for how to move off the ball, which includes quick passing while stationary and when cutting. She protects the basket well and can stick with guards on switches. You watch her mirror a smaller player's drive to the basket and wonder how opponents ever thought they could get a shot attempt past her. Fam doesn't seem to have a shooting touch beyond the paint, but she is so advanced already at her age that it's hard to believe she won't get there.
Fam isn't exactly on the same timeline as Bueckers, but the Wings don't plan on being in the lottery again for a long time. Cash in on the lottery ticket now, and surround Bueckers with some veterans in free agency.

No. 2 overall — Minnesota Lynx
Fam's agent told ESPN that competing in the WNBA is her "top priority" for 2026. She currently plays for Valencia in Spain and will turn 20 in June. Her potential seems very high. Because she is so young, she likely needs some time to fully develop. The Lynx could bring her along at a pace that allows her to blossom.
