2012 NFL Power Rankings - Week 7
Week: Post-Draft - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 - 11 - 12 - 13 - 14 - 15 - 16 - 17
 
Through Week 6's games, there are only two teams in the AFC with a winning record: Houston and Baltimore, both of whom are 5-1.

After suffering their first loss of the season to Green Bay last week, the Texans will host the Ravens this week.

While the AFC East does not have any teams with a winning record, they also don't have any teams with a losing record. Instead, all four teams are tied with a 3-3 record. The Dolphins have a bye, the Bills host the Titans and the Patriots and Jets meet in Foxboro.

With the Texans losing and the Browns winning this week, there remains only one unbeaten or winless team: Atlanta (6-0).

Here are some stats on this week's consensus rankings:

- Biggest jump from last update: Seattle Seahawks (6.00)
- Biggest drop from last update: Indianapolis Colts (-4.75)
- Team with widest difference between high and low rank: Miami Dolphins (9)

With each update, we always all respond to one roundtable question. This update's roundtable topic: When will the Falcons lose their next game?

While regular-season success isn't completely meaningless for the Falcons, their season will be judged primarily for what happens after Week 17. Despite being the No. 1 overall seed in 2010, the Falcons are 0-3 in the Matt Ryan era. That said, it is foolish yet fun to speculate how long the Falcons can maintain an unblemished record.

Looking at their remaining regular-season slate, the only challenging games are against the NFC East minus the Redskins and the Cardinals. The only one of those four games on the road is Philadelphia, but the Falcons have an extra week (bye week) to prepare. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Falcons last all the way to the Giants game (Week 15) before they lose.

Atlanta, the NFL's only remaining undefeated team, is a good team masquerading as the best team in the league. The fact is Atlanta has been underwhelming in their last three games. They should have lost to Carolina in Week 4, they barely escaped Washington with a victory, and they needed a late field goal to beat the Oakland Raiders (1-4) at home this past week. The Falcons are clearly going to be a contender in January, but the eyeball test means more to me than having a few things go your way early on to give them a 6-0 record. The Packers record says 3-3, but they had the replacement refs steal a game from them in Seattle, and on a neutral field, I wonder how many people confidently take the Falcons in that game.

Atlanta is on a bye next week, so the next chance they'll have to lose their perfect season is Week 8 at the Eagles. The Eagles will also be coming off a bye, and if ever there was a time for Philadelphia to prepare a little better, and make a few adjustments so that they can stop turning the ball over, this is it. I like the Eagles in a close one. I still expect the Falcons to finish with a strong record by season's end, but despite their record, I for one am not convinced that they're the best team in the league.

The Falcons sure escaped this week with a narrow win over a surprisingly game Raiders squad, but great teams find a way to win even when they aren't playing their best. The Falcons next loss will be next week coming off their bye when they travel to Philadelphia. The Eagles will also have had their bye, and are in the process of making wholesale changes for the better. I personally like the fact that LeSean McCoy will get to rush against that 27th-ranked defense that gives up 148 yards a game.

I believe the last undefeated team in the NFL falls in their next contest vs. Philly. The Eagles have been one of the hardest teams to figure out this season for sure, but I think Michael Vick has a big game against his former team. On paper the Eagles match up very well against the Falcons, and the big play ability from the Eagles will ultimately end their perfect season.
