All teams have played at least eight games and we are slightly past the midway point in the 2012 NFL regular seasson.
In Week 9, a pair of rookies turned in record-setting performances.
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, the top overall pick in the draft, set the NFL rookie record for most passing yards (433) in a game. Meanwhile, Bucs running back Doug Martin rushed for 251 yards, which is third all-time but set a franchise rushing record.
With each update, we always all respond to one roundtable question and those performances inspired this week's question.
This update's roundtable topic: Who will win the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award?
Kevin (follow Kevin on Twitter): Andrew Luck
Within the past two weeks, Tampa's Doug Martin has built some tremendous momentum for the award. After all, Martin has 486 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns in the past two weeks.
[On a side note, will fantasy owners be disappointed if he only rushes for 100 yards and one touchdown this week?]
In a passing league, however, the battle may come down to the top two picks in this year's NFL Draft, who were also the top two finalists for the Heisman Trophy. Four weeks ago, the choice between Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III would have been easy: RG3 in a landslide.
Now, I think the edge would go to Luck.
Luck has turned around a Colts team that won only two games that has a realistic shot to make the postseason with just a 4-4 record in the second half. Luck has four 300-yard passing games (including last week's record-setting 400-yarder) and is tied with Peyton Manning, arguably the midseason MVP, for fourth in the league in passing yards (2,404).
Stay tuned ...

There are three great choices for Offensive Rookie of the Year this year, and it's unfortunate for the two of them that won't end up winning it. Andrew Luck, RGIII, and Doug Martin, the Muscle Hamster himself, all have a completely legitimate claims as the best and most impactful rookie.
In the end, though, I think it will go to Andrew Luck, and rightfully so. Even though the Colts definitely played like a defeated team for much of last year, Luck inherited a team that won only two games last year, and already has them at 5-3 at the midway point. This team just won a huge game vs. Miami, a game in which Luck broke the rookie record for passing yards in a single game.
As high as expectations were, I don't think any reasonable person was talking playoffs for this team coming into the season. While we still have plenty of season left, the Colts are very much in that discussion. Luck looks like a seasoned vet, and certainly passes the eyeball test as someone who has the potential to be really great. He's my choice for Offensive ROTY.

The Offensive Rookie of the Year is a three-man dead heat at the NFL's halfway point, as Doug Martin ran his way into the race this week to compete with Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. As nice of a story Martin has been with the Buccaneers, sadly the NFL is a quarterback league and it will go down to Luck vs. RGIII.
RGIII has been better than advertised passing for 1,993 yards and rushing for 529 yards with 14 TDs combined. Andrew Luck has passed for 2,404 yards, rushed for 148 with 13 TDs combined.
The biggest factor will be how Luck has turned the Colts around this year, and also has the potential to lead them to the playoffs and will post a better record than RGIII.
Andrew Luck will be your Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012.
Sean (follow Sean on Twitter): Robert Griffin III
The Offensive Rookie of the Year will be Redskins QB Robert Griffin III. RG3 is currently 10th in the NFL in QB rating while Andrew Luck is sitting back at 25th. Andrew Luck is the better long-term prospect than Griffin III, but I think RG3 has done more this year.
The other main candidate would be Bucs RB Doug Martin. It is tough to exclude Martin from the conversation when he has close to 500 total yards (486) and 6 TDs in just his last two games, but previous to those two big games were some very average games.
Here are some stats on this week's consensus rankings:
- Biggest jump from last update: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11.75)
- Biggest drop from last update: Philadelphia Eagles (-8.50)
- Team with widest difference between high and low rank: Arizona Cardinals (9)

All of our rankings are from owner Kevin Hanson, who finished third overall in accuracy by FantasyPros in 2011.
Here's what FantasyPros wrote (about Hanson) in their year-end announcement of accuracy results:
"... Hanson was a fixture in the top 5 throughout the season and even led the contest heading into the final week. He also owns the distinction as being the only expert to eclipse the 70% PAY™ mark for a single position. ... Simply put, if you needed QB advice in 2011, the ultimate source to go to was over at EDSFootball. That’s not to say that Hanson was a one-trick pony, however. He also earned a top 10 rating at both WR (# 3) & RB (# 8), demonstrating that he’s among the best of the best when it comes to fantasy prognostication."
