Washington Football Team Mock Draft Roundup 1.0

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2021 NFL draft, we will update our Washington Football Team Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the Washington Football Team from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for Washington:

Pro Football Network - DiCecco (6/7)
2) Washington Redskins: Justin Fields, QB Ohio State

In this scenario, Washington tries their hand in acquiring another Ohio State quarterback to build around, this time it's the uber-athletic Fields. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound signal-caller boasts an exceptional arm, along with the ability to extend plays outside the pocket when plays break down.

Fox Sports - McIntyre (6/7)
9. Washington Redskins -- Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia transfer

A top five QB question this offseason: What happens in Washington? Ron Rivera will want his own guy, right? Casual fans are down on Haskins; in the 2nd half of the season he was solid. In the final three games: 8 TDs, 1 INT.

Walter Football (5/19)
4. Washington Redskins: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

The Trent Williams drama finally came to a conclusion when the Redskins traded him to the 49ers. They'll need a new left tackle.

Penei Sewell was so good as a sophomore, he received a second-place Heisman vote.

CBS Sports - Edwards (5/12)
3. Washington: Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU

Washington adds some firepower to the offense. Chase might have been the first receiver off the board this year if he had been eligible. Dwayne Haskins gets another outlet to pair with Terry McLaurin.

CBS Sports - Trapasso (5/4)
3. Washington: Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU

With Sewell gone, the Redskins get more firepower on the outside for Dwayne Haskins. This, too, is the prime landing spot for Justin Fields if Haskins flops in Year 2.

PFF - Renner (4/30)
2. Washington Redskins -- QB Justin Fields, Ohio State

Fields started last season like a house on fire but showed some flaws as the season wore on. Still, his performance was every bit elite as he earned a 91.5 overall grade. He is accurate at all levels of the field and is a legit threat with his legs.

San Diego Union Tribune (4/29)
2. Washington (100/1) -- Penei Sewell, OT Oregon

The 2019 Outland Trophy winner is talented enough to be chosen with the first overall pick if the team doesn't need a quarterback. He didn't allow a pressure, hurry or hit on the quarterback in nine of 14 games as a sophomore.

SI - Hanson (4/27)
2. Washington: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

Would Washington consider Justin Fields here? They should. If they are picking this high again next year, it's possible that Dwayne Haskins didn't take a big enough step forward in his second season. A Lawrence-Fields start to the 2021 draft seems the most-likely scenario a year out, so Washington could turn this pick into plenty of draft capital to a team trading up for Fields. For now, they add a dominant left tackle prospect who can take over for Trent Williams.

Bleacher Report - Miller (4/27)
2. Washington Redskins -- WR Ja'Marr Chase, LSU

The best-case scenario for the Redskins is that Dwayne Haskins develops into the quarterback they--and I--thought he could be coming out of Ohio State. To give him the best chance of developing into a high-level starter, the Redskins must give him legitimate weapons in addition to those already on the roster.

Ja'Marr Chase is one of the most explosive and naturally strong sophomore receivers you're ever going to evaluate. The biggest question will be how he develops without Joe Burrow at quarterback and Joe Brady as an offensive assistant, but the raw talent he displayed this past season makes him an early watch-list top-three player.

SB Nation - Kadar (4/27)
2. Washington: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

By this time next year, if Washington has the second pick in the draft, head coach Ron Rivera might want his choice of quarterbacks.

The Athletic - Brugler (4/27)
2. Washington Redskins -- *Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

If Dwayne Haskins continues to struggle in Year 2, this pick could easily be another Ohio State quarterback. But if Haskins takes a step in the right direction, then continuing to build around him should be the goal, including at left tackle where Sewell can fill the shoes of the departed Trent Williams.
