Fantasy Football Mock Draft Per Day (August 3rd): 10 teams, No. 2 pick, PPR, Super Flex

Back on May 27th, we began our 2014 fantasy football mock draft per day series using our site's mock draft simulator (powered by FantasyPros).

As we continue through the offseason, I will continue to complete a mock draft every day as I vary the scoring format, league size, draft slot, etc. and today's mock is a 10-team league using point-per-reception (PPR) scoring with a super flex (QB-eligible flex) and I have the No. 2 pick.

Here are my picks in today's mock draft:

1.02 - Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
2.09 - Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington Redskins
3.02 - Giovani Bernard, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
4.09 - Colin Kaepernick, QB, San Francisco 49ers
5.02 - Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots
6.09 - Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons
7.02 - Michael Crabtree, WR, San Francisco 49ers
8.09 - Frank Gore, RB, San Francisco 49ers
9.02 - Kendall Wright, WR, Tennessee Titans
10.09 - Marques Colston, WR, New Orleans Saints
11.02 - Jeremy Hill, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
12.09 - Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta Falcons
13.02 - Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona Cardinals
14.09 - Kansas City Chiefs D/ST
15.02 - Steven Hauschka, K, Seattle Seahawks

Some notes about my team (view full mock here):

  • QBs: While there aren't two designated QB-starter spots, leagues with a QB-eligible flex essentially makes it a two-QB league. As an example, 16 of the top 18 scorers were all QBs with the exception of Charles (No. 3) and LeSean McCoy (No. 11). Both RG3 and Kaepernick are ranked inside my top seven QBs, but they were the seventh and 13th QBs selected, respectively. Not only will they rack up rushing stats, both QBs have better/healthier weapons in the passing attack as well this year. With more durability risk for QBs that run, I made sure to add a third QB for depth.

  • RBs: My top-ranked fantasy option, Charles set career highs in YFS (1,980), receptions (70) and TDs (19) last year. While the TDs will almost certainly drop, he should repeat (or come close to repeating) his YFS and reception numbers from last season. Entering Year 2, Bernard is in store for bigger and better things, but he was one of only seven RBs with 1,200-plus YFS and 50-plus catches last season. Despite his age (31) and cumulative workload, Gore has still been productive with three consecutive seasons of 1,100-plus yards and eight-plus TDs and is a solid RB3 at 8.09. Hill and Freeman provide some depth and both will have opportunities to contribute (potentially quite a bit) as rookies.

  • WRs: One of my favorite wide receiver targets, White was one of the game's best receivers in December with 43/502/2 in five games. Only Josh Gordon and Alshon Jeffery had more yards than White during that span. Crabtree is dealing with a hamstring injury, but it is considered to be relatively minor and he should be able to build upon his 2012 success now that last year's Achilles injury is in the past. Better options in PPR formats, Wright and Colston provide solid depth with WR2 upside.

  • TEs: With more surgeries over the past two years than I can count on one hand, Gronkowski has some durability concerns even though he is expected to be ready for Week 1. When healthy, however, there isn't any TE as dominant as Gronk. In 50 career games, he has a total of 43 TDs and he set career highs in both yards per game (84.6) and yards per reception (15.2) in the seven games he played last year. And you can't beat the deap discount as the 42nd player selected overall.
