Fantasy Football Mock Draft Per Day (August 18th): 10 teams, No. 6 pick, Super Flex

Back on May 27th, we began our 2014 fantasy football mock draft per day series using our site's mock draft simulator (powered by FantasyPros).

As we continue through the offseason, I will continue to complete a mock draft every day as I vary the scoring format, league size, draft slot, etc. and today's mock is a 10-team league with a Super Flex (QB-eligible flex) and I have the No. 6 pick.

Here are my picks in today's mock draft:

1.06 - Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
2.05 - Demaryius Thomas, WR, Denver Broncos
3.06 - Montee Ball, RB, Denver Broncos
4.05 - Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears
5.06 - Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans
6.05 - Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks
7.06 - Torrey Smith, WR, Baltimore Ravens
8.05 - Joique Bell, RB, Detroit Lions
9.06 - Steven Jackson, RB, Atlanta Falcons
10.05 - Jordan Reed, TE, Washington Redskins
11.06 - Golden Tate, WR, Detroit Lions
12.05 - Brandin Cooks, WR, New Orleans Saints
13.06 - Rueben Randle, WR, New York Giants
14.05 - Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Carolina Panthers
15.06 - Lance Dunbar, RB, Dallas Cowboys
16.05 - Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis Rams
17.06 - St. Louis Rams D/ST
18.05 - Tyler Eifert, TE, Cincinnati Bengals
19.06 - Knile Davis, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
20.05 - Matt Bryant, K, Atlanta Falcons

Some notes about my team (view full mock here):

  • QBs: With my top-three QBs off the board before my first-round pick, I decided to wait on QB. As you probably know by now, Cutler has been one of my primary targets when I wait on QB. There are some durability concerns with Cutler, who has played only 36 games in the past three seasons. That said, he has arguably the league's best group of weapons, the team returns all 11 offensive starters and he should have better command of the Trestman's offense in Year 2. The Cutler-McCown duo actually accounted for what would have been the third-most fantasy points among QBs so he has plenty of upside as the QB13 in this mock. Although the Seahawks utilize a run-first attack, Wilson's dual-threat abilities give him top-10 upside. One of four QBs to rush for 500-plus yards last season, Wilson has thrown exactly 26 TDs in each of his NFL seasons.

  • RBs: The duo of Charles and Ball give me two top-eight running backs from my rankings. Charles led all RBs in fantasy points last season. Unlikely to repeat his 19 TDs, it wouldn't surprise me if he comes close to (or exceeds) the 1,980 yards from scrimmage he had last season. Ball takes over as the featured back in an offense that saw Knowshon Moreno finish as a top-five scorer. Provided he stays healthy, Ball has at least the same upside. Often overlooked in fantasy drafts, Bell should see an expanded workload in 2014, but he had over 200 touches and a top-20 season last year. While age and workload are catching up with S-Jax, he's a solid RB4. Dunbar should get a huge bump in volume if DeMarco Murray misses time, but he has top-50 potential even if Murray stays healthy. Davis provides me a handcuff for Charles and while he has impressive physical tools, it will take an injury to Charles to ever consider starting him.

  • WRs: DT has been a model of consistency at an extremely high level: 94/1434/10 (2012) and 92/1430/14 (2013). Meanwhile, Johnson has been extremely productive and consistent when playing a full 16-game season. In past four 16-game seasons, Johnson has 100+ catches and 1,400+ yards although he has yet to score double-digit TDs in his 11-year career. One of the fastest receivers in the league, Smith had a career-best season (65/1128/4) last year. Tate should set career highs in his first season in Detroit with Megatron protected him and Cooks, Randle and Benjamin are high-upside WR5-7.

  • TEs: One of favorite tight ends this year, Reed is coming off a productive but injury-shortened rookie season. In nine games played, Reed racked up 45 catches for 499 yards; a full-season pace of 80/887. Eifert's outlook may be better in 2015 as Jermaine Gresham is in the final year of his contract, but the injury to the team's No. 2 receiver Marvin Jones, who's expected to miss the first three games, should give Eifert a bit of a boost.
