Fantasy Football Mock Draft Per Day (July 19th): 12 teams, No. 12 pick

Back on May 27th, we began our 2014 fantasy football mock draft per day series using our site's mock draft simulator (powered by FantasyPros).

As we continue through the offseason, I will continue to complete a mock draft every day as I vary the scoring format, league size, draft slot, etc. and today's mock is a 12-team using standard scoring and I have the No. 12 pick.

Here are my picks in today's mock draft:

1.12 - Arian Foster, RB, Houston Texans
2.01 - Montee Ball, RB, Denver Broncos
3.12 - Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans
4.01 - Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots
5.12 - Percy Harvin, WR, Seattle Seahawks
6.01 - Joique Bell, RB, Detroit Lions
7.12 - Mike Wallace, WR, Miami Dolphins
8.01 - Marques Colston, WR, New Orleans Saints
9.12 - Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears
10.01 - Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys
11.12 - Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
12.01 - Jared Cook, TE, St. Louis Rams
13.12 - Charles Sims, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
14.01 - Cincinnati Bengals D/ST
15.12 - Adam Vinatieri, K, Indianapolis Colts

Some notes about my team (view full mock here):

  • QBs: Something I've done in a few of these mocks, I've paired Cutler and Romo once again. The Cutler/McCown duo combined for what would have been a top-four finish in fantasy points last year. With lots of talented skill players in their offense, it wouldn't be a shock if he put together a top-five finish. Not so good for the actual team or their fans, but Romo and the Cowboys will be involved in plenty of shootouts due to their porous defense, which should lead to loads of fantasy production. Both are solid options for those that wait on QB.

  • RBs: With Foster/Ball at the turn, it's two RBs to see expanded workloads in 2014 (for different reasons, though). After leading the NFL in YFS (5,702) and TDs (47) to go with a huge workload from 2010-12, Foster missed a huge chunk of last season due to injury. Hopefully, the subsequent reduction in workload last year helps keep him fresh in 2014. Ball takes over for Knowshon Moreno, who finished as a top-five fantasy RB in Denver's high-powered offense in 2013. A top-five finish for Ball isn't out of the question this year. Bell finished as a top-20 fantasy RB last year and should also see an expanded role in 2014. With the new regime in Tampa using an early third-round pick on Sims, he could earn a prominent role as a rookie, most likely as a receiver out of the backfield.

  • WRs: Assuming Johnson is on the field Week 1, it would not surprise me if he finishes with 100 catches and 1,400 yards. AGAIN. In the past four seasons that he's played 16 games, he's had more than 100 catches and 1,400 yards every year with Matt Schaub (or worse — and yes, there's "worse") as his QB. The trio of Harvin, Wallace and Colston give me multiple low-end WR2 options. And as my WR5, Evans has an opportunity to make an impact early as a force in the red zone.

  • TEs: From reports thus far, it appears likely that Gronk will be ready for Week 1. While durability has become a constant concern for Gronkowski's fantasy owners, he set career highs in yards per game (84.6) and yards per reception (15.2) last season in the seven games he played. More importantly, he's dominant in the red zone with 43 TDs in 50 career games. In case he isn't ready for Week 1 or misses more time, I added Cook as some insurance although there is a big drop off (obviously) between the two TEs.
