Fantasy Football Mock Draft Per Day (July 17th): 16 teams, No. 15 pick, PPR

Back on May 27th, we began our 2014 fantasy football mock draft per day series using our site's mock draft simulator (powered by FantasyPros).

As we continue through the offseason, I will continue to complete a mock draft every day as I vary the scoring format, league size, draft slot, etc. and today's mock is a 16-team using point-per-reception (PPR) scoring and I have the No. 15 pick.

Here are my picks in today's mock draft:

1.15 - Giovani Bernard, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
2.02 - Le'Veon Bell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
3.15 - Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons
4.02 - Julian Edelman, WR, New England Patriots
5.15 - Ray Rice, RB, Baltimore Ravens
6.02 - Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington
7.15 - Fred Jackson, RB, Buffalo Bills
8.02 - Heath Miller, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers
9.15 - Anquan Boldin, WR, San Francisco 49ers
10.02 - Marvin Jones, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
11.15 - Donald Brown, RB, San Diego Chargers
12.02 - Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona Cardinals
13.15 - Kansas City Chiefs D/ST
14.02 - Stephen Gostkowski, K, New England Patriots
15.15 - Doug Baldwin, WR, Seattle Seahawks

Some notes about my team (view full mock here):

  • QBs: As you know if you read this daily mocks/posts, I'm expecting a bounce-back season from RG3, who is now healthy with a more talented group of pass-catchers. And if the new coaching staff could help Andy Dalton finish in the top five in fantasy points last year, why can't they do the same (or better) for RG3? Considering the depth of the league and the potential for injury to RG3 as much as he runs, I made sure to draft a back-up QB with Palmer.

  • RBs: Unintentionally, I stacked up on AFC North running backs. Following very productive rookie seasons, both Bernard and Bell should be in store for even bigger and better things in 2014. Bell's per-game number of touches won't increase, but he nearly reached 300 touches (289, to be exact) despite missing three games. On the other hand, all signs point to a significant boost for Bernard. Both are talented receivers out of the backfield. Facing a suspension, it's unclear how many games Rice will play/miss, but he's reportedly lighter and looked more elusive in OTAs after a hugely disappointing season last year. F-Jax and Brown provide some depth.

  • WRs: After the slow start due to injuries, White was productive to close the year with 43/502/2 over the final five games. The only receiver with more receptions during that span was the next receiver on this team. Better in PPR formats, Edelman had a breakout season in 2013. While he's unlikely to repeat that production this year, he's a solid WR2. Boldin was surprisingly more productive with Michael Crabtree returning to the field than he was without him so we may not see as big of a drop in production as some expect. Jones provides a lot of upside as a 10th-round pick and Baldwin is a solid option in Round 15. I was considering him at 13.15/14.02 so I'm glad I still got him as I waited.

  • TEs: Miller won't win you any championships, but he's a solid and productive (albeit somewhat boring) option if you wait on TE.
