Fantasy Football Mock Draft Per Day (June 1st): 12 teams, No. 7 pick, 2-QB league

Back on May 27th, we began our 2014 fantasy football mock draft per day series using our site's mock draft simulator (powered by FantasyPros).

As we continue through the offseason, I will continue to complete a mock draft every day as I vary the scoring format, league size, draft slot, etc. and today's mock is a 12-team 2-QB league and I have the No. 7 pick.

Here are my picks in today's mock draft:

1.07 - Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears: Even though this is a two-QB league, it's too difficult to pass up Forte with the seventh pick. A perfect fit for Marc Trestman's offense, Forte had a career year in 2013 — 1,933 YFS, 12 TDs and 74 catches.

2.06 - Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers: The 10th quarterback off the board in this mock, Newton has top-five upside despite Carolina's relative lack of weapons in the passing game. Newton has yet to have a strong receiving corps yet he has consistently finished as one of the top-producing fantasy QBs due to his rushing ability.

3.07 - Jimmy Graham, TE, New Orleans Saints: As much as I'd like a second running back here, there is no way that I can pass up Graham with the 31st overall pick. In fact, I considered him at 2.06. The clear-cut top fantasy tight end, Graham has averaged 90/1169/12 over the past three seasons.

4.06 - Alshon Jeffery, WR, Chicago Bears: Jeffery broke out last season with a team-high 1,421 receiving yards, third-most in the NFL, and 1,526 YFS, second among receivers behind only Josh Gordon. It feels weird to not yet have my second running back, but Graham and Jeffery are strong values in these two rounds.

5.07 - Bishop Sankey, RB, Tennessee Titans: The first running back selected in the 2014 NFL Draft (see full results), Sankey is best-positioned among rookie running backs to make an impact.

6.06 - Toby Gerhart, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: Signing an offseason deal with the Jaguars, Gerhart will go from infrequently seeing the field with AP in front of him to being a workhorse back. Coach Gus Bradley has said that he expects 15-20 touches per game for Gerhart.

7.07 - Ryan Tannehill, QB, Miami Dolphins: There are a couple of things working in Tannehill's favor in 2014. The Dolphins invested in offensive line upgrades via free agency and the draft to better protect Tannehill, who was sacked a league-high 58 times last year, and OC Bill Lazor's up-tempo offense should lead to more fantasy production all around.

8.06 - Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons: Thrilled. I'm higher than most on White (he's my WR14), but that's the word I'd use to describe getting White here even though I had considered him for a couple of rounds. Despite his slow injury-plagued start last season, White finished the season strong with 42/502/2 over the final five games of the season.

9.07 - Eric Decker, WR, New York Jets: Decker won't produce the stat lines he had in Denver with Peyton Manning, but he is a solid WR3.

10.06 - Mike Wallace, WR, Miami Dolphins: After signing a big free-agent deal with the Dolphins, Wallace underwhelmed in 2014 in part due to a lack of chemistry with Tannehill. It appears that the Dolphins will focus on getting the ball into Wallace's hands and he could be in store for a bounce-back season.

11.07 - Jeremy Hill, RB, Cincinnati Bengals: Already ahead of The Law Firm on the depth chart, Hill could get 200 carries and the goal-line work as part of the Bengals running back tandem with Giovani Bernard. In the 11th round, he has plenty of upside.

12.06 - Cecil Shorts, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: I'm surprised that Shorts lasted until the 12th round and failed to build upon his 2012 success last year, but he's a nice value as my WR5.

13.07 - Hakeem Nicks, WR, Indianapolis Colts: As I've noted in some of these other mocks, Nicks should be highly motivated as he plays for another contract. There is no doubt that he was disappointed by the relative lack of interest as he tested free agency and he showed how productive he can be a couple of seasons ago.

14.06 - Tre Mason, RB, St. Louis Rams: Even though Zac Stacy's starting gig appears to be relatively safe, he did average a less-than-impressive 3.9 YPC last season. With the Rams selecting Mason in the third round, he should at least have an opportunity for his production to exceed his (mock) draft slot here.

[I should have added a third backup earlier, but there a couple of starting quarterbacks like Chad Henne still available. With the previous pick, I decided to go with the upside of a running back like Mason and make the necessary transaction moves when a QB is needed for a bye if I were playing out this league.]

15.07 - Baltimore Ravens D/ST: As usual, I select the best available team defense with my second-to-last pick in 12-team leagues.

16.06 - Matt Bryant, K, Atlanta Falcons: As usual, it's a kicker with the last pick.
