Slow finishes for Collins a change from 2008

Titans QB Kerry Collins, who had a 90.9 QB rating in the 4th quarter in 2008, has struggled down the stretch so far in 2009. As pointed out by Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, Collins' fourth-quarter passer rating in 2009 is only 25.9, which is second to last in the NFL.

The team, which scored 123 points in the 4th quarter in 2008, has only scored three points so far this year.

"The more intense the situation, the more Kerry lights up,'' tight end Alge Crumpler said. "He gets more lively in the huddle. He's like 'Let's shut these guys up. C'mon.' ''

"It is very important. A lot of games come down to the fourth quarter and making plays in the fourth quarter and we haven't done that — I haven't done that,'' said Collins. "It is something I am not concerned about, but I would definitely like to get better in the fourth quarter.''

Midway through the second quarter of the Jaguars game today, the Titans trail 17-3.

If the Titans don't let this one slip away, they're likely to need the 2008 version of Collins in the fourth quarter to avoid an 0-4 start.
