Bears give Cutler a two-year extension

The Chicago Bears have signed quarterback Jay Cutler to a two-year extension worth $30 million, of which $20 million is guaranteed, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times.
The extension keeps Cutler, who was the Broncos first-round pick in 2006, under contract with the Bears through 2013.
In the off-season, Denver traded Cutler (and a fifth-round pick) to Chicago for Kyle Orton, two first-round picks and a third-round pick. The Bears used the fifth-round pick to draft receiver Johnny Knox, who leads Bears' receivers in touchdown receptions (three) through five games.
Although Cutler is generally playing well, he had multi-interception games in the Bears' two losses this season. Through five games, he has completed 64 percent of his passes and has thrown for 1201 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Meanwhile, Kyle Orton and the Broncos are off to a surprising 6-0 start and are running away with the AFC West.
''The league is funny. It's all about timing,'' Cutler said Tuesday on the ''Waddle and Silvy Show'' on WMVP-AM (1000), per the Sun-Times. ''You could be one of the best players in the league, but if you're not in the right system, you don't have the right people around you, there's a lot of different aspects that go into making or breaking a player. It's working for Kyle. It's working for Josh. And it's working for the Broncos. They've got a good thing going.''
The Bears play the Bengals this weekend and Chad Ochocinco and Cutler have engaged in some "trash-tweeting."
Although Ochocinco congratulated him on his new contract via Twitter, he also wrote, "@JayCutler6 well after I embarass the secondary I want your jersey after game. ..."
