The Lions have a winning streak of 1
Before finishing with the NFL's first-ever 0-16 season in 2008, the Detroit Lions beat the Kansas City Chiefs on December 23, 2007. That win against the Chiefs ended a six-game losing streak.
So, in other words, the Lions had a 19-game losing streak entering today's game against the Washington Redskins. And they had only won one game in their previous 26 attempts.
But today the Lions gave the fans in the Motor City reason to celebrate as they have started a one-game winning streak by beating the Redskins 19-14.
And new head coach Jim Schwartz, who was the Titans defensive coordinator last year, got his first career win.
Rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford, who had thrown five interceptions in his first two games, did not throw any interceptions and second-year running back Kevin Smith rushed for over 100 yards.
However, Smith left the game with a shoulder injury and did not return.
The Bears, Steelers and Packers are up next on the Lions' schedule before their week 7 bye.
Even if their winning streak is short-lived, the Lions currently have a better record than their coach's previous team (the Titans are 0-3).
