Bills fire Turk Schonert
This week, the Chiefs and Bucs have dismissed their offensive coordinators -- Chan Gailey and Jeff Jagodzinski, respectively. Today, the Buffalo Bills followed suit.
The Bills have fired Turk Schonert, who had been the Bills' offensive coordinator since last year, and have replaced him with Alex Van Pelt, who was the quarterbacks coach, according to the Associated Press.
"It was just the lack of productivity and the direction we were moving. I just didn't feel like it was going certainly where I envisioned it," Jauron said at a news conference. "Hopefully, it'll provide a jolt, hopefully a jolt forward."
Last year, the Bills ranked 8th-worst in the league in total offense (305.1 yards per game). In the off-season, the Bills added receiver Terrell Owens to provide some firepower to their lackluster offense.
While Schonert won't get the opportunity to coach (and clash with) Terrell Owens in a regular-season game, T.O. jokingly accepted responsibility for the firing via his Twitter account.
"So let me apologize now 4 somehow, sumway, i got the OC fired!" Owens tweeted earlier today. "I felt like i wsn't getting enuff balls n preseason!"
Who's next? What had seemed to be the exception to the rule at the beginning of the week has become the norm.
