Osi skips practice without telling Coughlin
Giants defensive end Osi Umyeniora, who was at the team's facility today, left without talking to coach Tom Coughlin and he didn't practice today, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the NY Daily News.
“Osi was here this morning earlier and there must have been something of a personal nature, left,” Coughlin said. “I haven’t personally talked to him. He did respond to Jerry, evidently by text. That’s all I have. I haven’t seen him so I can’t tell you. I can’t indicate to you what the reason was or anything, because I don’t know.”
The text to Reese was to inform him that Umyeniora was o.k., but he didn't provide a reason why he left, according to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Per Vacchiano, it's not believed that Umyeniora left due to injury or contract concerns.
Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger writes that Umyeniora was upset with new defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan for criticizing him for a mistake in Saturday's game.
Umyeniora, the Giants' second-round pick in 2003, missed the entire 2008 season after suffering a season-ending knee injury last August.
