Burress gets prison consultant
Facing sentencing on gun charges one month from today, ex-Giants receiver Plaxico Burress has hired a prison coach, according to the New York Post.
"We are consulting with an expert in the field who will address and advise us, Mr. Burress and his family, on what to expect while incarcerated, and how to use his period of confinement as productively as possible," attorney Benjamin Brafman said.
While Burress accepted a plea deal for a two-year jail term, he could get out of prison after 20 months (May 2011).
I'm not sure what is more distrubing: that Burress is hiring a prison consultant or that the profession exists in the first place.
That being said, Burress could have avoided the need for a prison coach had he hired a consutlant to tell him not to carry a loaded hangun into a New York City nightclub. Or to tell him not to hide his gun in his sweat pants.
