Rex Ryan not "here to kiss Bill Belichick's rings"

If you thought the Eric Mangini and Bill Belichick had awkward mid-field handshakes, just wait until September 20th.

That's when the New York Jets host the New England Patriots.

Yesterday on WFAN in New York, Jets coach Rex Ryan said: "I never came here to kiss Bill Belichick's rings. I came to win, let's put it that way. So we'll see what happens. I'm certainly not intimidated by New England or anybody else.''

"Believe me, we are going to attack them, there's no question about that," Ryan said. "You know you gotta take it from them. I got confidence that we will give them everything that they want and maybe a little bit more."

"I'm not an under-sell guy," said Ryan, who will end his first offseason next week with a three-day minicamp. "Under-sell and over-produce? That's fine and dandy if we over-produce by winning the Super Bowl. But if we under-sell just to be average, I'm not here for the security of it."

Ryan is definitely not under-selling.

And when it comes to his players, he was "excited" about Kerry Rhodes' comments that the Jets will have "the best defense in the league."

I have no problem with Ryan's brash comments, but the Jets have to back them up or it could be a brief tenure for Ryan in New York.
