Favre is "pain-free"
The one potential obstacle to Brett Favre coming out of retirement (again) was the pain and discomfort he was experiencing in his throwing arm after having surgery performed a few weeks back.
However, Vikings coach Brad Childress told KFAN-AM 1130 that he believes Favre is "pain-free."
"My understanding is that he is pain-free right now," Childress said. "Does he have the endurance and the stamina in that arm yet? He doesn't know that yet. It's no different than grabbing a golf club for the first time during the year when you rip around 18 holes, and you wake up the next day and your side hurts. You say, 'Geez, I haven't felt that muscle in a while.' So he's got to build some endurance in that and see if he thinks he can get it back to where he wants to get it."
Childress went on to say that he didn't mind the comments by Vikings defensive lineman Ray Edwards, who said Favre would need to check his "prima-donna attitude" at the door.
On KFAN, Childress said: "I think it was all in jest. Defensive linemen, usually by nature, hate quarterbacks, and that's OK."
Edwards, who had five sacks in 2008, was the guy that predicted he would break Michael Strahan's single-season sack record last year.
Strahan, who set the record with a Favre flop, responded to Edwards' claim by saying, "Ray Edwards plays where? Honestly, no disrespect, but if you didn't put his picture up there, I wouldn't have known who the guy was."
