Thigpen "not ok" with demotion to second string
Kansas City Chiefs QB Tyler Thigpen, who started 11 games in 2008, hopes to get a chance to start in 2009. However, the Chiefs traded for Matt Cassel, who was franchised by the Patriots and will earn $14 million this season.
During this weekend's mini-camp, Cassel ran the first-team offense and Thigpen led the second-team offense.

“It’s life,” Thigpen said Sunday. “Everything happens for a reason. You may not see the reason right now, but I know there’s a reason that they brought a guy in like Matt.Last year, Thigpen threw for 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Barring an injury or sophomoric slump beyond imagination, Thigpen's sole responsibility in 2009 will be maintaining the clipboard.
“I’m behind him, and all I’m doing is pushing him, making him better. Hopefully me doing that is going to make this team better.”
