NFL draft in prime time in 2010?
The NFL draft could go to a new format in 2010.
This year, the NFL draft began at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday with the first round. The first and second rounds were drafted on Saturday.
In the past, the first day of the draft included the first three rounds and started at noon. Last year was the first year where the first day included only the first two rounds.
In 2010, the NFL might switch to a format where the first round would be in prime time on Thursday night. Friday night would be rounds two and three. Then the final four rounds would be drafted on Saturday.

"We're more confident now, with the timing of the first round, that it can fit a 3½-hour window," [NFL Commissioner Roger] Goodell said. "We think it can be very appealing from a fan's standpoint and an audience standpoint. What's better than two days of the NFL draft? Three days.
"We'll talk to our teams about it. We have to see what impact this would have on them. But I think it has potential."
