Lions cut Michael Gaines
The Detroit Lions have parted ways with TE Michael Gaines.
Gaines, who signed a four-year contract worth $10 million last year, caught 23 passes for 260 yards and one touchdown in 2008.
The Lions drafted Brandon Pettigrew with the 20th overall pick and also selected Dan Gronkowski, who missed being "Mr. Irrelevant" by one pick. The Lions have two other tight ends (Casey Fitzsimmons and Will Heller) on the roster.
