NFL announces compensatory draft picks
The NFL announced the compensatory draft picks for the 2009 NFL draft, which begins at noon on Saturday, April 25th.
Based on a formula, the NFL awards compensatory picks based on a team losing more or better free agents than it acquires in return in the previous off-season. The number and placement of picks are determined by performance and pay of those pay agents.
Of the 32 picks awarded, the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals received four picks each, which is the maximum. Fourteen other teams received compensatory picks as follows:
3 picks each: Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks
2 picks each: Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers
1 pick each: Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Redskins
