Browns to sign David Patten

Today the Browns have announced that they are going to sign WR David Patten, who spent the past two seasons in New Orleans.
"We're going to sign him. It's another veteran leader, experienced," [Browns GM George] Kokinis said.

"We had David in before the Stallworth incident occurred, so that signing wasn't really triggered by that."
This off-season, the Browns have traded TE Kellen Winslow to Tampa Bay and have released Joe Jurevicius.

Braylon Edwards, their #1 WR, has been the subject of trade talks with the Giants. Today, Kokinis confirmed that he had spoken to Giants' GM Jerry Reese at the NFL Combine.

Donte' Stallworth, their #2 WR, only played 11 games hauling in 17 catches. But he is likely to be charged with DUI manslaughter from an accident that led to the death of Mario Reyes.

Patten has spent 13 seasons in the NFL and has 324 career receptions. Last year, Patten played in only five games and had 11 receptions for 162 yards.
