Bears sign safety Josh Bullocks

The Chicago Bears have signed safety Josh Bullocks to a one-year contract that will pay him a guaranteed salary of $525,000.

Bullocks, who has started 49 games for the New Orleans Saints, is expected to compete with Craig Steltz to start at free safety for the Bears in 2009. Mike Brown, who was a salary-cap casualty, started at FS for the Bears last year.

In 2008, Bullocks had 40 tackles and 1 interception. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2005 NFL draft by the Saints.
