Lito Sheppard to Jets for draft picks
The Philadelphia Eagles have finally traded disgruntled CB Lito Sheppard, who had been seeking to be traded since last year.
The Eagles will send Sheppard to the NY Jets in return for a pair of draft picks. The Eagles will get a 5th-round pick this year as well as a conditional pick in 2010. The conditional pick will be a 2nd-, 3rd- or 4th-rounder.
Sheppard, drafted in the 1st-round by the Eagles in 2002, had 18 career interceptions. He had 1 interception last year, but had his career high in 2006 with 6 INTs in 13 games.
The Jets visited with CB Corey Ivy yesterday and will visit with safety Jim Leonhard today. Both Ivy and Leonhard played for coach Rex Ryan last year in Baltimore as did Bart Scott, whom the Jets signed to a 6-year deal yesterday.
