Deals for Hanson, Culpepper
Instead of using the franchise tag on kicker Jason Hanson, the Detroit Lions and the 17-year veteran agreed to a 4-year deal.
Hanson tied an NFL record for 8 FGs of at least 50 yards last year.
In addition to signing Hanson, the Lions re-worked QB Daunte Culpepper's contract. He was due a $2.5 million roster bonus and a $2.5 million base salary, but the terms of the re-worked deal were not disclosed.
The Lions say Culpepper is "in the mix" as a QB on the roster unlike former Lion Mike Furrey, who said Culpepper will be the starter in 2009.
Yesterday, the Lions signed guard Stephen Peterman to a 5-year contract worth $15 million including $5.5 of guaranteed money.
