Are Brookings' days with the Falcons numbered?

The Atlanta Falcons will have to pay LB Keith Brooking a $1 million roster bonus if they don't release him by February 23rd. Moreover, Brooking's salary in 2009 would be $8.3 million.

Brooking, who has started every game for the Falcons since 2001, led the team in tackles (102) last year. However, he struggled in pass coverage.

So unless Brooking is willing to accept a pay cut, last year's playoff loss in Arizona will likely be his last start.

Brooking was born in Georgia, went to Georgia Tech and has played only for the Falcons, who drafted Brooking in the 1st-round of the 1998 draft.
