Penn State's Aaron Maybin to go pro
Penn State sophomore DE Aaron Maybin will give up his final 2 seasons of eligibility and enter the 2009 NFL draft.
"Leaving Penn State was one of the most difficult decisions I've faced," Maybin said in a statement. "In the end, I've decided this is an opportunity I would like to pursue."He's going to be a (high) first-round draft pick, but some scouts question whether he's ready for the next level or not.
"He's not ready for the next level," NFL draft analyst Chris Steuber of scout.com said.Maybin, 6'4" and 245 pounds, led the Big Ten in sacks (12.5) this season becoming a Nittany Lion starter after the team suspended DE Maurice Evans.
Steuber went on to note, "I think it was evident on the field during the [Rose Bowl]. I think he was manhandled at the line. ... To me, he's just an undersized defensive end right now. You look at him, he's so skinny, he looks like a tight end or a wide receiver on the field.
"He still needs another year in college," Steuber added.
