Giants open to Plax coming back

The Giants were without the play-making abilities of their 6'5" WR Plaxico Burress in their first-round loss to the Eagles. If you have been living under a rock missed it, Plaxico shot himself in the leg and the Giants placed the idiot on IR thereby ending his season.
Manning: "It's not about Plaxico. We had opportunities. That's not the issue. I had total confidence and faith in the guys we had out there today."

Coughlin: "I don't think it has a whole lot to do with that. Those are the questions that have been asked since Day 1. The fact of the matter is Plaxico is not out there."
I agree with Eli and Coughlin.

Burress, who had 35 receptions for 454 receiving yards, had 15 catches and 214 yards in his first 2 games of the season.

In the other 8 that he wasn't suspended, he tallied 20 catches for 240 yards. In those 8 weeks, he had only 1 game with more than 3 catches and more than 50 yards.

Granted having Plaxico on the field influences how opposing defenses game plan even if he's not putting up big numbers. But the amount that his absence is attributable to the Giants collapse down the stretch is exaggerated.

But Giants GM Jerry Reese says that he's open to Plaxico re-joining the team next year.
"Sure, if everything goes right, yeah," general manager Jerry Reese said in the locker room following the game. "Absolutely."
The Giants gave Burress a 5-year, $35 million extension on opening night of the season.
