Matt Hasselbeck, Walter Jones doubtful vs Pats?
Mike Holmgren decided to come back for one more season as Seattle Seahawks head coach. Decimated with injuries, the Seahawks are 2-10 on the season and Holmgren must be kicking himself. Although many didn't expect them to win the Super Bowl, they were (at a minimum) expected to compete for the NFC West division.
Yesterday, the Seahawks placed starting LG Mike Wahle on IR and Walter Jones is doubtful for the game against the Patriots. If Jones doesn't play, RT Sean Locklear would move to the left side. RG Ray Willis moves to RT and Mansfield Wrotto would start at RG.
Also, the Seahawks are likely without Matt Hasselbeck. Seneca Wallace, who has taken all the snaps in practice, will start if Hasselbeck can't play.
Although Wallace completed only 53% of his passes in his 4 starts, he threw 5 TDs and only 1 INT in those games. In the past 3 weeks that Hasselbeck has started, Hasselbeck has thrown 3 TDs and 6 INTs.
I picked the Patriots to cover in this game in our Week 14 edition of The Weekly Blitz as did 2 of our other 4 analysts. On the season, I am 26-12-1 (68.4%) in picking games against the spread (ATS) and collectively our site is 118-73-4 ATS (61.8%).
The Patriots haven't lost back-to-back games since weeks 9 and 10 of 2006. I expect Matt Cassel and the Pats' aerial assault to light up the 32nd-ranked pass defense. Now, it will be even tougher for the Seahawks to win a shootout if Hasselbeck and Jones can't go.
