In the summer, Plaxico Burress was creating a distraction to the team with his "I will - I won't practice" without a new contract flip-flopping. On opening night, however, the Giants and Burress agreed to a 5-year, $35 million contract extension.

After 3 games into his new contract, he lost one of those game checks by missing a workout and getting himself suspended for week 5 vs Seattle. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that Burress had been fined 40-50 times before being suspended.

Even teammates of Burress like Justin Tuck said he "had it coming."

"I can't speak for Plaxico, but as a team it's indicative of our coaches trying to make a statement as far as every guy on this football team is equal and I think [Tom Coughlin] got his point across," defensive end Justin Tuck said. "I hope he got his point across."

"If anything, we say to Plaxico don't put yourself in that position," Tuck said.

Keep "hoping" Justin...

"I'm really, really not concerned about the way my teammates look at me as far as basing decisions on my family," [Burress] said.

And Plaxico said this about the whole situation:

"It was just a situation I had to deal with that morning, and I made the right decision," Burress said during a conference call that lasted about 20 minutes. "I don't have any regrets about the decision I made at all."

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I got me some rest and was able to get away for a while and chill out and relax. Things like that happen.

Well, Plax, they only happen because you make them happen. The Giants look better than they did last year when they won the Super Bowl even though Michael Strahan retired and Usi Umenyiora has been lost for the season.

But if Plaxico is not on the same page as management, this just might blow up into something bigger later this year.
