4. Adrian Peterson, Vikings, RB (03/21/85)
Some have said he was NFL-ready as a freshman at OU. Some critics wonder about his durability, which is partly due to his upright running style. But early in his NFL career, he is off to a great start (2 100-yard rushing games in his first 3). He may share carries with Chester Taylor, but he will be a contender for many rushing titles in the near future and for many years to come.
5. Frank Gore, 49ers, RB (05/14/83)
L.T. had a record-setting campaign in '06 and got a lot of attention. Gore, however, led the NFC in rushing and actually had a better yards per attempt average (5.4) than L.T. (5.2). He also had 61 receptions last year.
6. Tom Brady, Patriots, QB (08/03/77)
Brady finally has a big-time weapon in Moss and he's on a record-setting pace this year. While that pace may slow down, one thing that won't change is Brady's winning ways. He's cool under pressure and working towards his 4th championship in his 7th season as a starter. Plus who wouldn't want Giselle to sit in one of your suites 8 times per year?
7. Joseph Addai, Colts, RB (05/03/83)
Last year, Addai rushing for 1000 yards without starting a single game. This year, he's the guy and is averaging 90+ ypc and has 4 TDs in 3 games.
8. Peyton Manning, Colts, QB (03/24/76)
He spent much of his career being the Alex Rodriguez of the NFL. In 2004, he set single season records for passing TDs (49) and QB rating (121.4). Until last year, the perception was that he will put up monstrous regular season numbers only to fall short when it really counts. If Manning were 2-3 years younger, I would have put him either 1 or 2 on this list.
9. Willie Parker, Steelers, RB (05/11/80)
Who has a better career rushing yards per carry: L.T., Larry Johnson, Shaun Alexander or Willie Parker? The answer is Parker with a 4.7 ypc. This season, Parker leads the NFL in rushing, is on pace for 1,963 yards this season and is the only RB to rush for 100+ yards in the first 3 games so far this season.
10. Calvin Johnson, Lions, WR (09/25/85)
What does he not have? The only thing is experience. It's been a long time (if ever) since a WR has come into the league with his combination of size, speed and hands. Provided he doesn't suffer the fate of some other can't-miss Lions WRs with the exception of Roy Williams, there's no limit to what he will achieve as a receiver in the league.
11. Vince Young, Titans, QB (05/18/83)
There are plenty of QBs that put up better numbers than Young. Many questioned his intelligence after rumors of a low Wunderlic IQ test surfaced before last year's draft. However, there isn't a QB in the league (barring the 3 ahead of him on this list) that I would want to lead the 2-minute drill. Considering he left after his Junior season, he should be just a rookie. It's scary to think about how good he will become.
